One of the greatest resources at your disposal to promote your business is your staff members. Each one of them have various connections, social groups, and families that could be turned into consistent customers if you play your cards right. There are many suggestions on best practices for treating staff in our Employees section and make sure to follow them if you want dedicated employees. It’s imperative that you make your employees part of the business, so they feel like it is just as much theirs as yours. Some good suggestions for this are letting them be a part of decision making, host events for them, and listen to their concerns.
If your employees care about the business they will work off-hours to promote it to their friends and social network, giving you free advertising and marketing. If you give discounts to employees and their friends/families, they are even more likely to bring in customers, and those customers are more likely to become regulars. Allow staff members to hold events in your establishment and you’ll bring in customers.
Another good strategy is giving free T-shirts, clothes, keychains, bumper stickers, hats, etc. to employees for them to wear around when they aren’t working. These will serve as walking billboards, promoting your brand wherever your employees go. For more information on where to get promotional material visit our Vendors page.
