Text-Messaging Marketing

As helpful as it is to put yourself on top of sites like Google, Yelp, and Twitter, there is no better way to directly reach customers than text messaging. It is important that customers OPT-IN for your text marketing service, as it is illegal to send unsolicited messages.

Text-Messaging marketing works through sending a keyword and a shortcode to customers to give them deals and coupons. An example is “Text ‘BURGER’ to 444444 to get 10% off a burger of your choice.” In this case burger is the keyword and 444444 is the shortcode. If people respond to this text they effectively opting-in to receive text alerts. Another way to get customers to opt-in is to have them check a box online, or put their phone number on your website. But for these methods it’s important to send them a confirmation text before they’re officially in.
